is it ok to build your floor right on top of the skids? in other words not build a box on the top of the 4X4?

Hi John,

The only time I have ever seen this done was using 2"x8" pressure treated tongue and groove boards.

You would have to make sure that you check the allowable span. I believe, depending on the loads you plan on having in your shed, you would only be able to space your skids a max of 16" to 24" on center.

I did up a quick rendering for you to look at. I am not saying this is an approved method for doing your shed floor. What I would suggest is getting with your local building inspectors office and getting their opinion on doing your shed floor framing using that type of decking over your skids.
