I am building a quail habitat. I need a roof, and I am using treated 4x4 as a base for the shed, with wire cloth running under the 4x4 and attaching it to the outer side of the 4x4 to keep rodents out. the treated 4x4 will have untreated 2x4 attached to the inside and top (wall framing on top) to protect the quail from treated lumber. I will use 24 inch in center for framing, because the wall frame only needs to support the roof. The walls of the shed, and the shed door will be covered in wire cloth. So the roof is just to protect the quail from the elements. I had a cage structure of 9x20 covered with wire cloth and a tarp, but it collapsed under snow. So, with wood, and a proper roof, I am hoping to build a durable structure that will not collapse. So the question is, what is the best roof, and can I use 24 on center for the walls instead of 16 on center? joel.david.kilgore@gmail.com
